Hope Among Leaders in Sears Cup

Hope College finished among the NCAA Division III leaders in the annual Sear Directors' Cup standings. The standings rank schools based on NCAA championship appearances in the school year.

Hope ranked 47th among 267 schools listed in the final standings.

Williams (Mass.) College topped with the standings. Rankings of other MIAA schools were Calvin (6th), Alma (61st), Kalamazoo (106th), Olivet (141st) and Albion (237th).

During the 1999/2000 school year Hope qualified individuals or teams in seven NCAA national championships -- women's cross country, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's golf, women's tennis and women's track & field.

This marks the second consecutive year that Hope has ranked 47th in the Sears Cup standings. Hope has ranked among the top 50 Division III schools every year since the program was initiated in 1995-96. The best finish was 23rd in 1997-98.
