The Hope College chapter of the Mortar Board national collegiate honor society will be collecting books, mittens, gloves and hats for local service organizations during the college's Homecoming game at Holland Municipal Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 12.
The chapter is seeking new items and used items that are in good condition. They will be donated to Family Hope Ministries and the Holland Rescue Mission.
The student-staffed collection will take place on the lawn near the main entrance from 1:30 p.m. to the end of halftime. The college's game with Kalamazoo College starts at 2 p.m.
Mortar Board recognizes college seniors for their achievements in scholarship, leadership and service; provides opportunities for continued leadership development; promotes service to colleges and universities; and encourages life-long contributions to the global community. The national organization was founded in 1918.
