Recognition of Hope Program Includes Study-Abroad Scholarship

National recognition of the international education program at Hope College includes a scholarship for a student to use in studying abroad during 2005.

The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) has recognized Hope for providing outstanding support of study abroad and the council's "Study Centers" during the 2003-04 school year. The award – a plaque and $1,000 in scholarship funds for use by a Hope student – was presented during the 56th Annual Conference of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, held in Baltimore, Md., on Sunday-Friday, May 23-28.

Only five institutions nationwide received the awards. The other four were: the University of Colorado-Boulder, George Washington University, Tulane University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

CIEE operates 60 Study Centers in 29 countries around the world. A total of 127 Hope students studied abroad during 2003-04, including through single-semester and full-year CIEE programs in Chile, Dominican Republic, England, France, Haiti, Ireland and Jordan.
