Bria Ebels Receives All-Region Basketball Honors

Hope College senior Bria Ebels of Holland, Mich. (Holland HS) has been named to the all-region team by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

She becomes a candidate for the 2006 Kodak/WBCA Division III All-America basketball team.

This season Ebels was voted the co-most valuable player in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and was named the league's defensive player of the year.

She was three-time All-MIAA first team honoree.  Co-captain of this year's team, she was Hope's leading scorer for a third consecutive year.  She established a Hope career record for three-pointers in becoming the ninth Flying Dutch player to score more than 1,000 points.  This season she averaged 13.2 points a game with a team-high 51 three-pointers.

The Flying Dutch won the regular season MIAA championship with a perfect 16-0 mark, captured the conference tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Division III championships.

Ebels is the only MIAA player named to the Great Lakes (Region 6) team.  She is joined by senior Nikki Altenweg of Baldwin-Wallace, Ohio, senior Liz Bondi of DePauw, Ind., senior Sara Heitkamp of Capital, Ohio and Leigh Sulkowski of Washington & Jefferson, Pa.
