Matt Rugenstein Honored as DIII Football All-American

Hope junior defensive end Matt Rugenstein from Grand Rapids, Mich. (GR Christian HS) has been named a DIII All-American by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.

He has been named a second team honoree by the national weekly publication.  He was earlier named to the North All-Region first team.

He is the first Hope player in a decade to receive All-America honors.   

The junior from Grand Rapids, Mich. (GR Christian HS) was voted the most valuable defensive player in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) this fall. During the season he was named a Division III national defensive player of the week after collecting 4.5 quarterback sacks against DePauw, Ind. He ranked among the Division III leaders in sacks (#14 with 11.5) and tackles for a loss (#17 with 20.5).
