HSRT's Children's Performance Troupe Ready for Season

Hope Summer Repertory Theatre's Children's Performance Troupe (CPT) begins its season June 20 with "Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business" by Barbara Park, with music and lyrics by Joan Cushing. This is followed by CPT's second show, "Go, Dog Go!" adapted by Allison Gregory and Steven Dietz on July 18. Both performances are held in the DeWitt Studio Theatre.

Junie B. Jones, from the popular children's book series, is an outspoken kindergartener who is going to be a sister for the very first time. Initially acting jealous of the new addition to the family, Junie B. Jones overhears her grandmother calling her new baby brother the "cutest little monkey," and her mind goes wild! Could this new family member win her the best show-and-tell award? Joan Cushing, writer of this show's music and lyrics, is also the adapter of last year's sold-out hit, "Miss Nelson is Missing."

Based on the book by P.D. Eastman, "Go, Dog Go!" is a tale of a variety of dogs: big dogs, little dogs, dogs that talk, yellow dogs, blue dogs, red dogs, and dogs that drive. This lively comedic and musical performance will have the whole family howling.

"Junie B. Jones" will be performed at 10:30 a.m. on June 20, 25, 27; July 9, 25, 30; August 3 and 8, and at 1:30 p.m. on July 23, 27; August 1, 6, and 10.

"Go, Dog. Go!" will be performed at 10:30 a.m. on July 18, 23, 27; August 1, 6, and 10, and at 1:30 p.m. on July 25, 30; August 3 and 8.
