Hope Trails Calvin in MIAA Commissioner's Cup Standings

Hope College is in second place in the Commissioner's Cup standings of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) after the winter season.

The MIAA Commissioner's Cup award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 18 sports for men and women.

Rival Calvin tops the standings after the winter season leading Hope 137-129. During the winter season Hope won the men's basketball crown and shared the women's basketball title with Calvin. In swimming and diving, Hope finish second in both the men's and women's standings while Calvin was champion in women's race and fourth among the men.

The final standings after spring competition will be determined on the basis of each college's standings in eight-of-nine sports for men and eight-of-nine sports for women. The tabulation through the winter season is based on five-of-six sports for men and five-of-six sports for women.

Men's All-Sports Standings: 1. Calvin 61, 2. Hope 59, 3. Albion 42, 4. Adrian 41, 5. Trine 36, 6. Olivet 35, 7. Kalamazoo 31, 8. Alma 21.

Women's All-Sports Standings: 1. Calvin 76, 2. Calvin 70, 3. Saint Mary's 49, 4. Olivet 45, 5. Alma 42, 6. Albion 41, 6. Kalamazoo 41, 8. Adrian 31, 9. Trine 25.

Hope won the 2009-10 Commissioner's Cup. The Commissioner's Cup (All-Sports Award) has been presented since 1934-35. Hope has won the award 32 times, followed by Albion 14, Kalamazoo 13, Calvin 9 and Alma 5.
