Hope Among the NCAA Division III Leaders in Soccer, Volleyball Attendance

Hope College was among the nation's NCAA Division III leaders in average home attendance for home men's soccer and volleyball games played last fall.  In reports just issued by the NCAA, ranked second among the more than 400-member Division III in both sports.

In volleyball, Hope trailed only rival Calvin in average attendance at 624 fans across 12 matches. Calvin, which won the Division III national title, averaged 803 fans over 16 dates  thanks to increased attendance through several home tournament matches during their post-season run. Hope led Division III in attendance in 2009 and 2010. The Flying Dutch posted a 10-2 record at home en route to a 25-7 season mark.

For the second year in-a-row, Hope trailed only Messiah, Pa. in average attendance at men's soccer games. Messiah averaged 1,800 fans across nine home matches while Hope averaged 1,041 over 12 dates. They were the only Division III programs to average more than 1,000 fans per home game. The Flying Dutchmen had a 10-1-1 record at home and finished with an overall 17-5-4 record.
