Hope College Wind Ensemble to Perform on Monday, Sept. 17

The Hope College Wind Ensemble will perform on Monday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The 46-member Wind Ensemble will be starting its season with a concert featuring an international theme, playing works from Russia, Africa and England.  The program will include selections by Dmitri Shostakovich, Vaughan Williams and Guy Woolfenden.

Director Gabe Southard, who joined the Hope faculty in 2007, completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts in conducting at Michigan State University. Prior to his residence at MSU, he served as wind symphony conductor and flute studio teacher at the University of Michigan-Flint, where he also taught orchestration, music appreciation and advanced conducting.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., on College Avenue at 12th Street.
