The Hope College Concert Series will feature Pomegranates with special guest Lightning Love on Friday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m. at the Park Theater in Holland.
Pomegranates, hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, will be headlining the evening with its diverse indie rock sound. The band has consistently impressed critics and fans with both its energetic live shows and its four, full-length releases.
The band’s second album “Everybody, Come Outside!,” offered a fresh take on an upbeat indie rock sound. “Paste Magazine” said about it, “It’s hard not to get swept up in the cascading guitars, chant-along gang vocals, hand-clap rhythms and overarching, almost-childlike hopefulness.” The Hope College Concert Series brought the band to Holland after the release of the album three years ago.
The release this summer of the fourth Pomegranates album, “Heaven,” marks the band’s continued success and talent. “CityBeat” referred to the release as “a stunning work of art that manages to top not only the Poms’ past three albums, but also most ‘big name’ releases this year so far.”
In addition to the concert, the Concert Series will sponsor an open conversation with the members of Pomegranates.
Indie-pop trio Lightning Love will open the night with their upbeat and catchy sound. Hailing from Ypsilanti, Lightning Love has gathered a strong following and toured extensively during the past few years.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the opener will begin at 8 p.m.
Tickets for the concert are $10 for the general public and $5 for Hope students, and are available at the ticket office in the main lobby of the DeVos Fieldhouse.
