Math Colloquium - "Teaching Mathematics in the Context of the Common Core "

As states make final decisions about their level of participation in the Common Core State Standards Initiative, mathematics teachers are faced with the work of preparing to teach the new standards.  In this talk, we investigate the content standards and the standards for mathematical practice, and discuss what’s new, what’s challenging, what opportunities are offered, and the potential effect on teaching mathematics and preparing teachers to teach in the context of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM).
