Biologists are great at generating data, particularly in our current genomic era.  But what can we learn from that data?  And how is a computer scientist involved?  This talk will briefly outline some of the ways in which computer science is used to help make sense of biological data in general, and then give an overview of a current computational project, named HTMAD, that is being developed to provide high-throughput microbial analysis and de-replication.
