About Us

Who we are:
The Biochemistry Club is open to all Hope College students. A major or minor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is not required. Anyone with an interest in biochemistry is invited to participate.

The Biochemistry Club’s purpose is to make Hope’s chapter of The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Undergraduate Affiliate Network (UAN) active on campus, enabling students who are members of the society to interact on a regular basis and providing the opportunity for greater recognition of these students outside of Hope College. We seek to bring together biochemistry and molecular biology students at Hope College in order to enable them to be more prepared to compete in the scientific world, and to engage them in educational outreach programs to promote awareness of scientific research in schools in the Holland area.

The ASBMB UAN is a national organization comprised of university-based chapters dedicated to the advancement of undergraduate research, research-based undergraduate education, and K-12 outreach in biochemistry and molecular biology. Their goals are:

• To assist in the development of strong undergraduate programs in biochemistry and molecular biology.
• To provide undergraduate programs with access to seminar speakers and regional programs and symposia
• To foster interactions between undergraduate educational and outreach programs both regionally and nationally.
• To recognize outstanding educational activities in the area of biochemistry and molecular biology by individuals and by programs.
