Research Interests

In general, my research is in the broad area of regulatory physiology. For the past 14 years, my lab has focused on the phenomena of thermal dehydration-induced thirst, which represents an interaction between the thermoregulatory and water balance systems. Current studies in my laboratory are focused on how heat acclimation alters water balance and temperature regulation in rats.  Recently we have also been investigating the role of angiotensin II in the regulation of metabolic rate and body temperature.. Previous research has been in the areas of fever, blood pressure regulation and hypertension, and temperature acclimation. I am involved in a joint project with Dr. Maria Burnatowska-Hledin on the physiological role of the VACM-1 receptor she has discovered.
