Teaching Interests:

During the past five years at Hope College I have grown to really enjoy interacting with students. I find that I teach most effectively when I know where the students are at in their mental preparation for the course. I have had the privilege of teaching courses in Biology, Unity and Diversity, Organismal Biology (Plant Biology component), Cells and Genetics labs, Organismal Biology labs (Animal and Plant Biology), Plant Physiology, Seminar on Plant-Animal Interactions and a First Year Seminar on "What does it mean to love something or someone?" I have also served as the lab coordinator for the Biology, Unity and Diversity and Cells and Genetics courses at Hope College.

Future changes in the course schedule:

Plant Physiology will be taught in the fall semester beginning in 2007.

Chemical aspects of Ethnobotany will be offered every other year in the spring semester beginning in 2008.
