Part Time Research Assistant (Summer)


May 1 - the End of August. Intensive field sampling in the lakes of western Michigan, Lake Michigan, and the western basin of Lake Erie. Position is with NOAA/OHH and NOAA/GLERL's Lake Michigan monitoring programs.

Assist in field sampling, processing, and analysis of field collected samples. Compensation: $10-$15/hr dependent on qualifications

Full Time Summer Job with the National Park Service at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore


Identify grasses, sedges, herbs, shrubs, and trees to species in the field and record field data accurately. Establish and sample vegetation and fire fuels in fire effects monitoring plots, in a variety of vegetation/fuel model types and in accordance with established methodologies and guidelines. Field work and office work.

Unusual opportunity for paid internship open to students in Environmental Studies, Ecology, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, and other related majors. June 9-August 13, 2010.
Students are introduced to environmental health at the federal level through project collaboration, experiential learning opportunities, individual environmental health presentations, journal clubs, field trips, brown bag lunches, and through shadowing and mentoring relationships.
