Review Games
From time to time, as a pleasant break, we play various review games.  When I first started doing this, I was afraid that college students would be too sophisticated to play such games.  They are not.  They play for the prizes and take the review as incidental.

When we play games, we play for prizes related to the game.   For example, the game of gland reviews the function of the hormones oxytocin and prolactin.  We give out milk chocolate or yogurt  or other dairy products.  When we play the game of FUNGI, we give out yeast rolls and cream of mushroom soup.

Those little plastic bottles of water make good prizes for WATER, and for PLANT we gave out extra plants from the greenhouse.  We have generally played three kinds of games.  Click on them to find out more.

1.  Variants of "BINGO."        5 X 5 games to review terms and concepts

2.  What phylum am I?            A milling-around-asking-questions-game in which players wear a phylum
name on their back and try to guess what it is by asking yes and no
questions of other people in the room.

3.  The phylum masquerade.     A crazy thing in which student teams create a costume to represent the
characteristics of a phylum or other taxon and then other teams try to
figure out what phylum is being represented.
