Annual Report Text, 2002-2003What a year! The new Science Center affected just about every aspect of Tod's job. Not only was a lot of time spent "in" the new building with construction issues, preparation of Peale for the move was a HUGE endeavor. The move coordinators, Tod and Lori Hertel (Biology Lab Director) frequently met with construction representatives, contractors, faculty, staff, and students. When the building was ready, we began to move in from the top floor down. The move went fairly smoothly due to the incredible help of Hope students and Physical Plant staff. Growing pains will surely be present over the next year, but they will be well worth it. Along with coordinating the move, Tod had a full plate of lab directing; teaching several lab sections; teaching several home school science classes; coordinating the ever expanding Science Camps; Lil' Science Club and Extreme Science Club; and preparing for his first First Year Seminar class. The topic, Servant Leadership, will hopefully have an impact on the campus community and the world beyond. Tod also finished up his term with Community Action House and during the summer was elected Vice-President of the Board of Directors for the National Association of Scientific Materials Managers. (NAOSMM) On the home front, Tod and his wife Brenda are expecting twins in February. Older sisters Danielle and Rachel are obviously excited. |
