David Moore
Major: Communication
Class of 2010

Why did you choose a major in communication?

A major in communication will give my creativity a foundation in theory and substance. As I look for a future in media and photo journalism, I can seek to implement what I have learned in my courses to create the most powerful work possible.

How has being the photo editor for the Anchor student newspaper been helpful?
Working for the Anchor has given me publication experience and opportunities to put communication theories into practice. Taking an idea and portraying it in an image is a great form of communication that I have been able to work on through the Anchor.

How have your communication courses benefited your photography?
Photography can become more powerful when you understand the rhetoric behind things and the criticism and public culture that will effect your photography. By understanding the public culture and the criticism behind things, you can better approach your means of presenting it.

What other ways have you gotten involved in hands-on media?
I have been working with a friend of mine on his campaign for student congress president doing videography, photography, website design, and other elements of his campaign.
