A note from Alexander: After interning at the
Treasury in Washington
D.C. for the spring semester, I returned to Holland, MI for the
summer. While in Holland I had an internship with Viability LLC,
an
economic development firm, and conducted economic research with
Prof.
Kim Hawtrey. I was also lucky enough to spend May in London, studying
the British economy. Later in the summer, I returned to Europe with
the Hope Men's soccer team. We traveled to Ireland and prepared
for
the fall season. I have been blessed with a fantastic year so far,
in
which I have grown in my knowledge and understanding of economics
and
the world, and I look forward to continued learning this year with
the
Baker Scholars. Economics is a discipline I truly find fascinating,
and with the current economic situation it is a very exciting field
to be in. I hope that through my education at Hope College and my
experience as a Baker I will one day be able to help contribute
to the improvement of our economy and give something back for all
of the blessings I have received from my family, friends, and professors.
