Thinking of going into business? Want to find out what a management major might involve? This entry-level management class will introduce you to the vocabulary of business and the types of decisions managers make in the process of running a successful organization. The computer simulation format provides a fun way to scope out the management major. You will be a member of a "company" team that competes against four other "companies" in a competitive market.
This course introduces students to the various components of an organization. It will acquaint students with the diverse functions within an organization - finance, marketing, operations, human resources and research & development - and how these functions relate to and complement one another. A comprehensive computer simulation program is the primary method of exploring and understanding the complex relationships within modern organizations and the decisions managers make.
