Fingerprinting/Criminal Background Check

A criminal background check for teacher education students is currently required by several local school districts for students who are placed in upper level field placements, including student teaching. Subsequently, the Hope College Education Department now requires all education students to complete a criminal background check at the start of the semester PRIOR to their student teaching semester.

Students must be fingerprinted under the Michigan Employment Code (SE) and register with the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District (OAISD) who will release the results to the Education Department and to any district for which a student gives consent for the purpose of substitute teaching or employment.
