FOR EDUCATION STUDENTS WHO ARE PLANNING TO
STUDENT TEACH IN THE FALL OF 2009

Nancy Cook, Director of Student Teaching, has scheduled TWO meetings this month for ALL education students planning to student teach in the FALL OF 2009 (except for special education majors who will be completing their second student teaching placement next fall).

(A SIMILAR MEETING FOR SPRING 2010 STUDENT TEACHERS WILL BE HELD IN FEBRUARY OF 2009.)

The first of these two identical meetings will be held on:
Monday, October 20, at 4:00 PM
and the second is scheduled for:
Thursday, October 23, at 11:00 AM
( both
in VanderWerf 104)

It is IMPERATIVE that you attend ONE of these two meetings.
You will need to reschedule any field placements or
outside employment that may conflict with these dates
and times. If you have class during both scheduled meetings,
please contact me ASAP before the meetings.

We will be reviewing the application process for permission to student teach.
We will also be sharing information regarding:
1. MTTC testing requirements
2. CPR and First Aid Certification
3. Criminal Background Checks/Fingerprinting

The application process will include the submission of a resume. You may want to get a head start on preparing your resume by accessing the information provided by the Office of Career Services at:
http://www.hope.edu/student/career/resources/search.html
(go to the third section, Information for Teachers, and click on the second link, Example Resumes for Juniors).

You will be required to schedule an appointment with a staff member from the Office of Career Services this semester so that she/he can review your resume and give you feedback on its format and content. Call the Office of Career Services (x7950) to schedule an appointment or stop by during their drop-in times (M-F from 3:00 to 4:45pm). They will ask you to complete an Appointment Record sheet or sign in on the drop-in sheet for documentation of your visit to their office.

An electronic copy of your resume (which has already been reviewed by the Office of Career Services and updated by you) will need to be submitted as an attachment to studentteaching@hope.edu by:
Friday, January 23, 2009

(Do NOT submit a paper copy.)

If you have dropped from the teacher education program, please inform our office manager, Barbara Scholten at scholten@hope.edu
