Directions for Editing a Movie Clip for Chalk & Wire

 

1.     Copy and paste the video from its folder on the W drive onto the desktop.

 

2.     Open Windows Movie Maker

a.      "Start" go to "All Programs" go to "Windows Movie Maker"

 

3.     In the contents box on the left, beneath “Capture Video” click Import video.

 

4.     Locate and select the video file in the window that comes up.

  

5.     Once the video is imported, click and drag it from the Collection panel into one of the timelines at the bottom of the screen.

 

6.     To add a title to the video, click Make Titles or Credits, under the Edit Movie section in the contents box on the left. Follow on-screen directions.

  

7.     To add effects (fading out to black, fading in, etc.) click View Video Effects, in the Edit Movie section on the left.

 

8.     Click and drag the desired effect onto the video clip to apply it.

 

9.     To output the video to file, do the following.

a.      In the Finish Movie section in the contents box on the left, click Save to My Computer. You may have to click the down-arrow next to the Finish Movie heading to display the list of options before you can select Save to My Computer.

b.     Follow the on-screen directions for naming and saving your video file. The recommended settings are fine for short videos (5-30 seconds).

 

10.  The outputted video file is now ready to be uploaded to Chalk & Wire. Go here for instructions on uploading files to Chalk & Wire.
