I received an Education Specialist Degree in education administration at Michigan State University. In 1998, I was honored as "Michigan Principal of the Year."

I served as the Assistant Superintendent for Petoskey Public Schools, in Petoskey, Michigan. I was the High School Principal for Rockford Public Schools, in Rockford, Michigan and also for Alma Public Schools, in Alma, Michigan. In Kinsey Falls, Quebec, I worked for Cascades Conversion, Inc. and served as the President-General Manager, for the U.S.A. Division.

My wife and I currently reside in Holland, Michigan, and we have three children.
