The Michigan Department
of Education, as well as all Michigan Teacher Education programs
(including Hope College) are in a transition period of implementing
new State Board of Education standards for elementary certification. THIS
WILL AFFECT ALL STUDENTS PLANNING TO PURSUE ELEMENTARY AND/OR SPECIAL
EDUCATION CERTIFICATION.
In order to take the current Elementary Test #83 (required for all elementary
and special education candidates), students must register, take, and
pass this test by July, 2013. If the elementary certification test is
taken after this date, the new test will include content that the student may
or may not have covered in the current program. Students should also be advised
that currently published courses are subject to change during this transition
period. It is strongly recommended that students meet with a faculty member in
the Education Department as soon as possible to plan for program completion.
