Part I: Feedback on Prior Assignments and Assessments

Part II: Developing Priniciples for Effective Presentations -- Applications to Teaching Adolescents

Part III: Preview of the Final Exam

Read. Garmston and Wellman's book, "How to Make Presentations that Teach & Transform," Complete the "Reading Road Map" guide (cherry-colored handout). You are to answer the guiding questions as a means of interacting with the content of this professional "how-to" book. You will turn this reading journal in for points following class discussion.

Over the next two weeks you should be utilizing your new perspectives on assessment, evaluation and grading. Your mentor teacher will be doing quarter grades, perhaps having parent-teacher conferences.

Talk with your mentor about his/her views on this teacher responsibility. What are the "tricks of the trade" that they find helpful in this process. Share some of your own concerns about the purposes of grading and get his/her response.

Then share your findings on the Discussion Board. The prompt for this reflective writing assignment in on the Board. The deadline for this response will be Sunday, April 6th, 10:00 p.m.

Synthesis paper for this seminar will be due in one week.

You should be arranging with your mentor teacher to teach a lesson in your field placement classroom. You will need to use one of the design frameworks--Direct Instruction or Cooperative Learning--and script a lesson design.

Your teacher will give you feedback on your lesson. I will provide you with a feedback form that is similar to those used in student teaching.
