Unit Five Performance Assessment: "Teaching Seminar" Presentation You will be responsible for collaborating with your Base Group members in designing and "teaching" a 60-minute lesson on a selected topic focusing on teaching literacy strategies to secondary level learners. Your learning goal will be to collaborate with your base group in the following ways: 1. to decide what pedagogical knowledge and skills will be critically important to your colleagues as you all develop a repertoire of teaching strategies and frameworks for promoting literacy in their future classrooms; 2. to design a lesson which engages your peers in the topic using the direct instruction framework, cooperative learning strategies, and a PowerPoint visual presentation; 3. to implement the lesson design in class on the assigned date, and to seek feedback from your colleagues about the lesson's effectiveness; 4. and to self-assess the videotaped presentation. The total process will be worth 100 points. |
