NordicTrack Accessory Rack

Karin Stevens
The Accessory Rack is a rack designed to be compatible with a NordicTrack ski machine, and support the components used by a person during the act of exercising. This involves supporting a portable CD player, a remote control, a magazine or book, and possibly a drink. The Rack needed to be compact, easy to attach, and capable of supporting the loads needed for the components. Currently, such a product is unavailable in the market. There are component racks that will fulfill some of the above requirements, but do not accomplish the results of the Accessory Rack.
Several concepts were considered and extensive benchmark research was done. The final design of the Accessory Rack incorporates an angled reading material platform with support ledge, and a recessed, divided box to hold the exerciser's needed components. This design contains the components well, and at the same time offers easy access to these components. This portion of the Rack is fabricated with Lexan, which is a durable, strong, transparent polycarbonate plastic.
The Rack is also easily attachable to the NordicTrack ski machine via a Cclamp, which fastens to the main support post of the fitness machine. An aluminum attachment base connects the rack and the C-clamp. The attachment base consists of a small square aluminum plate attached to an angled aluminum rod. The aluminum rod tapers down, and then fits snugly into a slot in the C-clamp.
The final Accessory Rack design is well able to hold the stipulated components, and is compact enough to avoid interference with the user's exercise space. The user is easily able to reach the components on the Rack. The Rack is sturdy enough to stay in place once fastened, until the user desires to readjust its positioning. In all, the Accessory Rack well fills the current hole in the component rack market.
