Restaurant Service Enhancement Device

Summary:
The Restaurant Service Enhancement Device (RSED) was developed in conjunction with Gretim International. The device was created to supplement customer service in the restaurant environment. The RSED, by facilitating simple communication, enhances customer satisfaction in addition to improving restaurant server performance.
The RSED works on the simple principal that a light from a customer’s table attracts the server’s attention, enabling him or her to respond to the needs of the customer. The RSED is an electronic device that is integrated into the table, within easy reach of the patron. There will be four buttons to choose from when operating the device. One button triggers a green light and indicates that the patron would like the server’s attention. A second button signals a yellow light and communicates that the patron needs something (i.e. water or silverware) that someone, other than the server, can provide. A third button triggers a red light (picture A), indicating to the server that the patron does not want to be disturbed. The fourth button is used in conjunction with the second button to disable the device, preventing lights from signaling the server. Surface mount, high brightness LEDs are used as the signal lights, providing low battery usage, unobtrusive presence, and high visibility. The light functions are controlled by a programmable logic chip circuit and are powered by a lithium battery source.
