Car Engine Lab

The automobile is a major element of our culture and economy. Critical to the operation of the automobile is the internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine burns gasoline to produce the force needed to move the car. In this laboratory project we will dismantle and reassemble an automobile engine. The engines used are real automobile engines. They have been modified slightly to facilitate disassembly and reassembly in a short period of time. Completion of this project provides a familiarity with the essential components of the internal combustion engine.
