Use this as a coversheet for your lab writeup. Please do not turn in all of the instructions. Please do not squeeze your answers into the spaces between the questions. Answer the questions on a separate sheet of paper.

  1. Distance of inch marked properly:

    Signed:____________________________

  2. Completed coil checked:

    Signed:____________________________

  3. Radio works:

    Signed:____________________________

  4. Repaired Radio Works.

    Signed:__INSTRUCTOR ONLY__________________________

  5. Make a drawing of your radio showing the various components. Be sure to show the diode and which side the stripe is located. The drawing should be detailed enough so that you could use it to fix your radio if one of the parts were to come off. It might be a good idea to complete this before you leave the lab.

  6. Try your radio in at least 5 other places. Several places to try are mentioned in the lab writeup. REMEMBER TO NEVER CONNECT ANY PART OF YOUR RADIO TO AN ELECTRICAL OUTLET. Make a table of the locations and indicate to what the antenna and ground wire were connected (if anything). Indicate whether or not you were able to hear anything. Where does the radio seem to work best? Did you make any interesting or puzzling observations in trying to listen to your radio at various locations.

  7. Write a description of how the radio works. To prepare your answer use information given in the class notes, the lab write up, in Macaulay pgs 238-241. Include a description of the function of the antenna, diode, coil, earphone, and ground.

  8. Can this radio play FM stations? Explain why or why not.

  9. How is it that the radio works without a battery?

  10.
