Writing Minor

The writing minor consists of a minimum of 18 credits from courses in writing,
normally those in the English Department numbered 200 or above:

If arrangements are made in advance, credit toward the writing minor can also
be given for internships which involve a great deal of writing or editing
and for courses in other departments which involve internship-type experience
and a significant amount of writing. Because of the importance of directed
experience in writing, students pursuing this minor are strongly encouraged
to write for campus publications and/or work on the staff of the Academic
Support Center.
Writing courses which count toward an English major, an English minor, or an English/ Communication Composite major may not be counted toward a writing minor. Students should be aware that the writing minor is not approved for teacher certification by the state.
