Teaching Enhancement Workshop Syllabi Resources

Required Statements:

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT: Any student whose disability falls within ADA guidelines should inform the instructor at the beginning of the semester of any special accommodations or equipment needs necessary to complete the requirements for this course. Students must register documentation with the Office of Disability Services and/or Academic Support Center. If you have questions, call Student Development at extension 7800.

COURSE ASSESSMENT: Hope College expects all students to assess each course in an effort to continuously improve student learning. At the end of the semester, you will be asked to assess how well this course met its stated goals. Your responses will be kept anonymous, but I will take the collective results seriously in thinking about how to provide Hope students the best possible education. Your responses matter. You are urged to participate in this important process.

Heads Up!

If you are teaching in one of the approximately 28 programs for which elementary, secondary, or K-12 certification is available, your syllabus will have to reflect the state of Michigan standards for your discipline. See your chair. Help is available from the dept. of Education at Hope.

If you are teaching in the general education core, you should be aware of the "Characteristics of the General Education Curriculum: Cross Curricular Themes" in the college catalog available online from the registrar's page. http://www.hope.edu/admin/registrar/

*Note to TEW folks: for these two syllabi, the different unit plans are not all handed out on day one. They get the big syllabus info on day one to read on their own AFTER class, they take a moodle quiz on it, and then I handle further questions on syllabus during day 2. They also receive only the first menu (Patterns) on day 1. The others are each handed out on first day following a test.
