FOCUS is an acronym for Fall Opportunity to Continue Upward Scholastically.
A small group of incoming freshmen are selected by the Admissions team
to participate in this program. These students have only provisional
acceptance to the college for one semester. The FOCUS program provides
them with the additional support they need to make a successful transition
to the academic rigors of college. These supports include a reduced
academic load, free subject tutoring, extra progress reports from professors,
and weekly advising. FOCUS students agree to limit their participation
in sports, work, and other extra-curricular activities. At the end of
the first semester, a committee meets to determine if each student will
be admitted to Hope as a regular student. Prospective students should
contact the Admissions Office for more information about the program.
