First Year Seminar—Two Credits

These seminars, taught on a variety of topics and open to first year students only, provide students an intellectual transition to Hope College in an interdisciplinary context. The focus is on active learning and college-level learning in the liberal arts. Students enhance their skills in the reading of primary texts, reflective writings, small group discussion and oral presentations. Teachers of these seminars serve as advisors to the students in their classes. The director of the First Year Seminar Program is Prof. Green.
