HPLC

High-performance liquid chromatography is a form of column chromatography used to separate, identify, and quantify compounds. HPLC utilizes a column that holds chromatographic packing material in a stationary phase, a pump that moves the mobile phase(s) through the column, and a UV detector that shows the retention times of the molecules (wikipedia.org). Hope College students and faculty use these instruments in groundwater research, environmental science, chemistry, and biology research projects.
