Major: Language Arts Composite for Elementary Education
Program Duration: Fall 2002
Study Abroad Location: University of Wollongong (AustraLearn)
Favorite Course: 19th Century Australian Literary Culture

Favorite Memory: My semester
abroad was absolutely amazing! The people are what made this experience for
me. The Australians are awesome and I made great friends with so many of them
in my dorm, Weerona. Some things I did that stand out are skydiving, surfing,
scuba diving and snorkeling, mountain hiking, going out all the time, dorm
life, and a big spring break road trip to Queensland, just to name a few.
Advice: If you go to the University of Wollongong, try to live in Weerona College and
request to live with an Australian roommate. It's the real way to truly experience
the culture. Campus East is also another good choice for a dorm. Another piece
of advice that I wish I would have had before I went: don't set your return
flight date for right after the end of the semester. I did because I thought
I would be ready to come home by then, but boy was I wrong. It ends up being
quite expensive to try and change your return flight date later on, so I would
suggest leaving yourself a lot of extra time after the semester is over for
more traveling, staying with new friends, etc. because you won't want to come
home right away. Trust me!
