Julie Fritz, Class of 1990
I am a 1986 graduate of Valparaiso High School in Valparaiso, Indiana. I graduated from Hope in 1990 with a double major in biology and physical education. After graduating from Hope, I attended graduate school at the University of Indianapolis. I received my Master's degree in Physical Therapy in 1992. Since that time, I have had the opportunity to work in sports medicine clinics in Alabama and Pittsburgh as a Physical Therapist/Athletic Trainer. I recently returned to school full-time. I am pursuing a doctoral degree in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. During my career, I have been able to do many exciting and interesting things in the field of sports medicine. I have published several articles about rehabilitation of injuries, the latest of which appeared in the August issue of The Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy on the rehabilitation of patients after a meniscal transplant operation. Being a student athletic trainer at Hope taught me what it means to be a professional in an allied health career. My time at Hope has provided me with a strong foundation upon which I have been able to build my further training and education. (Editor's Note: Julie completed her doctorate in 1998 and is presently an assistant professor of physical therapy at the University of Pittsburgh. She is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Athletic Therapy Today.) |
