1500 Turn

This is it, the beginning of the encirclement and attack on Stonne! 6 GRDI and 3/49 continue pushing to the north. Their goal had been to cut off the German reinforcements, but they failed. 3/205 begins to head south to take up their final position south guarding the area north of Stonne. 4-II-8 sidesteps and tries to head to Stonne, as does 6-II-8 and Lehr. 4-II-8 had put up a great defense, which was helped by the Germans getting initiative for 4 turns in a row (!), allowing them to fire then retreat a hex.

1/69 veers west, avoiding La Besace. Mixed blessing for the French, as 1 co. of 49 needed to pull out now anyway and support the attack on Stonne of 2/67. 1/67 had defeated the co. of II/GD handily, which regroup with the battalion east of Stonne. 16 BCP makes its appearance. The HW units are given a Prep Def. Op Sheet of Stonne, which will be crucial later.
