The final turn. Positions are generally stagnate, except for 2 German counterattacks. To the south, 90 Aufk. runs into some tanks of 45 BCC and trades losses, but manages to take the town south of Stonne. It then send the last of its few armored cars there to provide a base of fire (with an infantry platoon) for 2 recon platoons to attack into Stonne. One makes it to a hex adjacent to Stonne on the last turn, but was suppressed. However, all the return overwatch suppressed all French on the south edge of Stonne. The last platoon made it across the open area (even with tanks shooting at them the whole way), assaults into Stonne and eliminates 2 defending platoons! If this platoon, with -4 steps, can hold, the Germans can get a draw. BUT the HW has implemented orders, so it can SFA. Gathering 17 points with MGs and mortars, at point blank range with crossfire, the Aufk. 90 platoon succumbs and is eliminated. Almost!
To the north, and even stronger attack is launched. Germans get initiative, bombard Stonne heavily, smoke up the valley and charge. The defending 1/67 and 2+45 are without orders and cannot SFA (+ the commanding officer was out of the country...) and put up weak resistance. II/69 charges up the ridge, with heavy support from AT and IGs in the central valley (and also advancing with them), but run out of time and into numerous French tanks. With another hour, the attack may have been successful! But the timing was off just enough.
