Your troops make it to positions at the north edge of the orchard. About 5 minutes later, German infantry is observed moving south along the road around 17.05 (you estimate company strength). You wait a bit to let them approach, then open fire, pinning down a platoon and sending another one scurrying back along the road into the shadows of the dawn. No return fire is received.
0400 - The 6th GRDI enters and takes up its positions as you ordered, waiting to implement a new opsheet.
All seems to be going according to plan. At around 0418, 3/205 radios and reports German infantry advancing on their position in company strength. They have been stopped with small-arms fire.
No other contact reported this turn.
All seems to be going according to plan. At around 0418, III/GD reports strong French presense north of the orchard around La Vivier. 9th Co. has taken casualties and is pinned down.
9th co. has run into trouble. As they were advancing along the tertiary road around 8.31, the co. was fired on by small arms and MG fire from the edge of the orchard to the south. The whole orchard line seemed to light up. Your lead platoon was hit hard and has retired to the north. Your 2nd pl. is pinned down, while the 3rd assumed combat formation and awaits your instructions.
BTW you have 2 75mm IGs and 4 AT guns that are committed to your force from the IV/GD. They are in reserve around hex 19.32.
Your battalion is crossing the stream according to your orders.
You hear sharp small-arms fire to the west (isn't that where III/GD is supposed to be going?)
Groups A and B are moving and should be in position to assault Hutte d'Ogne in about 5-10 minutes.
