Your troops stay in line, supported by 4 BCC as you try to figure out what your plans can handle. After consulting your orders and maps, you see that, yes, you may indeed advance to Worm under your current opsheet.
Your OC inquires whether you are in motion or stationary.
To the north you hear the sounds of troops preparing defenses and shouting in German.
Hmmm, to follow orders or not to follow orders...
You pull back to a line roughly 2.20 - 4.19 - 4.16. 1st and 3rd co. are in line (1st to the north, 3rd to the east) and 2nd co has the reserve plus a scouting platoon reconning the road (it's clear to 3.16 so far). Your mortar unit is in 2.18, it has 1 step loss. HQ located in 2.19.
You are not pursued by the Germans, who seem to have made themselves scarce.
How to you want to move to Worm?
Your tanks stay in line supporting the infantry as you try to figure out what your plans can handle. After consulting your orders and maps, you see that, yes, you may indeed advance to Worm under your current opsheet, in conjunction with the 1-2/205
Your OC inquires whether you are in motion or stationary.
To the north you hear the sounds of troops preparing defenses and shouting in German. You do not hear any vehicles.
Your unit concentrates and hits the road heading towards Worm, avoiding using the roads that are visible from the air. Your lead element is in 08.11, the rest behind. You estimate that you should get there in about 30 minutes, hopefully in time to help 3/205.
1-2/205 are not yet in motion, they were pondering their orders to see if they can move. Same with 4BCC.
3/205 is continuing to withdraw, from all you can tell.
6 GRDI is moving towards Worm, but has not made contact with anyone.
Your arty observer is where you want him, but has seen nothing.
French planes again attack north of Stonne, but you cannot see the results of their efforts.
The French airforce continues its pounding, hitting your 1st co. out in the open again, causing some casualties and pinning 2 platoons. The advance platoon in Stonne consolidates its position, and is joined by an StgIII. The pinned platoons are in 33.15 and 31.14 (with an MG section and StG III each.)
The rest of your force changes to move mode to rush across the open area into Stonne, hopefully without getting hit by air or artillery (i.e. they are not bunching up too much).
Work on the opsheets begins as ordered. If you like, you can give more definite instructions on the deployments around Stonne by company and vehicles/weapons attached. Since you began work on two new opsheets, I assume that you cancelled your attack opsheet? In that case, you need preliminary instructions to your 3rd co. and supporting units from IV GD. Also the units not yet in Stonne no longer have any orders, and must be given preliminary instructions.
You need to pick two center points for your two groups of units (i.e. the units near/in Stonne and those in reserve). Your opsheets also need failure instructions.
I GD has entered Stonne. Your units begin in their positions they used to assault Stonne. One pl. of the 5th begins on its scouting trip, while the other two are in 38.12 and 39.12. 6th Co. is approximately 38.11, 38.10, 39.11. The MG's are moving through the woods to the south edge. 7th co. is in the southern edge of the main woods, and requests instructions: Should they occupy the edge of woods to the south, roughly 47.09, 46.08, 45.08,44.08?
You have not seen any French at all. You do notice some German tanks working over the forest to the southeast (looks like 4-II-8 covering the flank as ordered). They pulled all the tanks out when the woods were cleared. I wonder if they know that you're sending out a scout platoon into that area?
Youl mortars picked up this turn and are heading towards their assigned places. They were staying in fire mode to provide cover before.
So far you have not changed your opsheet, because technically it is not fulfilled until the scout unit finishes. Your staff began on the Hasty Defense opsheet, but since you can have only two, you must first 'tear up' the attack opsheet (which will affect the scout platoon).
It turns out that you can assign individual groups of units separate 'center-point hexes' so if your troops become unassigned, you can have a few different centerpoints. Please indicate what they are.
Your opsheets also need failure instructions.
Your troops notice that I/GD is still under air attack out on the plain to the north of Stonne, and most of a company is pinned down.
Your units advance as ordered. 9th co. is advancing abreast, 2 hexes apart, and has reached a line of about xx.22 11th co. moves into the positions you described, again spaced every 2 hexes. 10th co. begins the move towards the Stu.Pio. You move to 15.20 (with your HQ, I don't separate commanders from HQs for simplicity's sake). Having notified Mahler that you will meet him there, you meet up with his HQ right at the end of the turn.
The mortars are in hex 17.26. The trucks and guns are still in La Vivier.
Again, the Luftwaffe cannot see into the forests and thus will not be able to support you directly here.
No report given
You begin work on a Hasty Defense Opsheet, in addition to your currently implemented attack opsheet. Garski contacts you and tells you to meet him in hex 15.20, which you do (arriving right at the end of the turn). You turn your bn. over to the next in command, so you'll be out of touch until you return.
It doesn't sound like any fighting is going on.
Your bn. is in a line from 18.20 to 22.19, with 1st co. on your left with a refused flank, 2nd co. on your right and 3rd co. in reserve. Scouting indicates that the French are in 18.18, 19.18, 20.18, 21.19 and 22.18. Infantry supported by tanks and MGs is what you see.
Do you wish to drop your current opsheet or keep it active? And when would you like to start rolling for your next opsheet?
You encounter no Froggies in your movements. The 2 Pz.II's reach Franclieu and encounter no French. The rest of your tanks advance to the southern woods as ordered. They are spread out, roughly centered with a 2-hex radius around 48.05.
Since your tanks are nicely grouped, you can give more specific instructions if you like.
