•Classes in English or French depending on student’s ability

Ex: Art and Architecture in Paris, Translation, Economics of the European Union, Theater Production and Performance, Modern European Cinema, The Maghreb and the Arab World
• Take a class at outside institutions ranging from the well-known Universtié de Paris-Sorbonne to other French institutes specializing in Architecture, Music, Business Management, Psychology, or the Fine Arts.
• Intern with a Paris business, organization, publisher, or the media
• Volunteer to work with children, the elderly, or the homeless in Paris.
• Apply to participate in the IES Model European Union, and spend an expenses-paid weekend elsewhere in Europe for the event!
• Optional field trips to Provence, Morocco, or even a ski trip to the Alps!
• Live in a charming Provencal town near the Mediterranean with visible vestiges of the Roman Empire
• Be inspired by the same landscapes that were the muse of Van Gogh, Gaugin, Cezanne, and Picasso
• Receive 6-7 credits with classes in intermediate French, French grammar, History of Photography, History of French Theater, and French Immigrant Communities in the 20th Century
• Homestay program with a French family or live in the town center

• Perform independent research ON LOCATION in a subject area of your choosing
• Intensive language courses in French with emphasis on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
• Homestay in Toulouse plus a 10 day village study in the Pyrenees
• Experience firsthand living among the largest Muslim population in Europe and being a part of the European Union
• Learn about European political issues including multiculturalism, immigrations policies, public education and social welfare, and institution of the Fifth Repblic
• Sample topics for study include: urban design and renewal, the Jewish community, social problems (drugs, homelessness, and racism), French feminist movements and the voile, organic agriculture, and mountain stone architecture
