Bottom Line Expectations

Be in class every day

I'm not kidding! You automatically get a 0 for the day if you are not in class. If you are sick, you should either call me (x7567), e-mail me or otherwise inform me before class.

If you have to travel or are participating in athletics or other school events, arrange with me beforehand to do make-up work.

Come prepared

That means do the homework and work with whatever we will be discussing in class. It also means being focused, getting enough sleep and taking care of your body so your brain can work efficiently.

Participate

Both verbally and non-verbally, and in a positive fashion. Being in class is a good start, but you need to SPEAK! It is a language class, after all!

Do all the assignments

In a responsible fashion. You don't have to be perfect, but you should do well at basic stuff. If you are unsure of the gender of a word, look it up. If you are unsure of a verb form, look it up. If you are unsure how to spell a word, look it up. I think you get the idea! These habits will serve you well at all levels of language learning.

Put in the work

Your effort should be commensurate with the grade you wish to earn. Unlike some high schools, A's aren't granted just because you are nice and wonderful and show up (although that certainly doesn't hurt!).

Talk to me

I'll try to stay 'in touch' with how things are going with you, but try as I may, I still can't read minds. If the workload seems unreasonable, if an assignment is unclear, if there's stuff in the course you hate and would like to have changed, talk to me.
