Brief Biography

Dr. David S. Cunningham is Professor of Religion at Hope College.  He also directs two Hope programs:  the CrossRoads Project (focusing on calling and vocation) and the Center for Writing and Research.  He spent two sabbatical years in Freiburg, Germany (one of them as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow).  His wife, Marlies, is a German native.  Dr. Cunningham assists the Department of Modern and Classical Languages by teaching first-year German and being an avid participant in the German Club's bi-weekly Stammtisch (German conversation table).

  • Brief Biography

    Professor de Haan was born in Vinkeveen, the Netherlands.  He attended Christian schools in Pella, Iowa, and studied at Calvin College and Northwestern University. He and his wife Georgia (Terpstra) married in Pella, Iowa and have four children and five grand children. Prof. de Haan has been teaching at Hope since 1979.

  • Brief Biography

    Prof. Forester completed 13 grueling years of post-secondary education before taking his first teaching job at Hope College in 1992. Three of those years were abroad (1 year in Germany, 2 in Austria). His research interests include historical linguistics, computer-assisted language learning and materials development. He has co-authored three textbooks, Auf gehtís! Beginning German Language and Culture, Weiter gehtís! Intermediate German Language and Culture, and Ritmos. Beginning Spanish Language and Culture.
