Co-Curricular Activities
Spanish House
The Spanish house is located on Lincoln Ave. and it is sponsored by the Spanish
Dept. Six students reside in the house and they receive one credit per
semester. These students also coordinate activities for the Spanish Club
- all students are encouraged to attend and participate. You may consult
with Prof. Claudia Maria Andre (ext. 7911) if you are
interested in living at the house for a semester.
Spanish Club
Prof. Monica Castillo (7957) will supervise the Spanish
Club this year. You may join the club for extra-credit and extra fun!!!
We organize parties at the Spanish house, watch films both in English and
Spanish, organize trips to interesting events, cook ethnic foods, dance,
etc. The club organizes several activities during the year so as to introduce
students to a variety of topics dealing with Spanish speaking cultures.
Spanish Conversation
and Grammar Review
Spanish conversation and grammar review is conducted every Tuesday from 3:00
- 3:50 in Graves 208. Students will review grammar while practice
conversation and gain extra credit!
Sigma Delta
Pi - Epsilon Pi Chapter at Hope
The Spanish honorary society awards their outstanding students annually for
their accomplishments in the Spanish language - the purposes of the society
are:
- to honor those
who attain excellence in the study of the Spanish language and in
the study of the literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking peoples;
- to honor those
who have made the Hispanic contributions to modern culture better
known in the English-speaking world;
- To encourage
college and university students to acquire a greater interest in
and a deeper understanding of Hispanic culture;
- To foster friendly
relations and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech
and those of English speech;
- To serve its
membership in ways which will contribute to the attainment of the
goals and ideals of the society.
