City Networks
City Networks is a monthly (Sept, Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, April) event hosted by City on a Hill and managed by students of Hope College's Center for Faithful Leadership program. On the third Tuesday morning (8 AM) of each month (see above), City Networks provides members of non-profit organizations the opportunity to build networks over breakfast ($3) and to learn from expert practitioners. In the past, experts have discussed fund raising, donor management, grant writing, the role of the board in fund-raising, etc. Each month postcards are sent to interested non-profit organizations, inviting them to the next City Networks event. If you would like to be on the City Networks mailing list or to RSVP your attendance at a City Networks event, please email "CitynetworksRSVP@gmail.com.
City Networks was founded on the idea that "the solutions to society's most pressing problems lie in the collective, not in any single institution" (Crutchfield and Grant, Forces for Good, 2008, p. 211). By collaborating with others, networks increase the potential for effectiveness and efficiency (i.e., stewardship) by discovering new ways to connect people, generate ideas, and leverage resources. City Networks was also founded on the idea that to learn servant leadership values and practices, students need to engage in project-based learning. City Networks is one such project.
