CFL's Mentoring Program
Who Am I? What Will I Do?
The purpose of CFL's mentoring program is to initiate and facilitate learning relationships between mentors and students. The focus of those learning relations is to reflect on what God is calling us to do. One way to reflect on this is to think about our unique gifts and the needs of others, and where we can use those gifts productively in a career or elsewhere.
- The goals of the mentoring program are to help students:
· Discover their gifts
· Identify their priorities
· Discern their career opportunities
· Learn about servant leadership
The Center for Faithful Leadership's (CFL) Mentoring program is an "incubator" for learning relationships. It is also a "building block" for helping CFL and participants teach and learn servant leadership. Students are paired with mentors, professionals from the community, who have expertise in areas that match students' career and/or vocational aspirations. Students and mentors focus on the questions: Who am I? What will I do?
This program is free to students and offers no academic credit. It is capped at 25 students per semester. Althought it is a semester long program, the goal is to seed relationships that last a lifetime:
To appy to this program, please follow this three-step process:
- Apply on-line (below). Applications are accepted on a "first-come, first-served" basis. A CFL staff member will contact you when your application is received.
- Students are interviewed by CFL staff. Staff member will contact you to set up a 15 minute interview.
- If you are accepted into the program, you are given input and are matched with a mentor that best meets your needs as determined by CFL staff.
We are now taking applications for the Spring 2010 semester. Please apply early!

Both students and mentors attend orientation sessions at the beginning of each semester. Students and mentors are invited to attend Monday Mentoring Sessions. Students and mentors are also expected to communicate on a weekly basis. After the semester is over, students and mentors have the option to continue their learning relationship.
We are happy to report that almost all students involved in this program either agree or strongly agree that mentors assisted them in discovering their personal identity, discerning a career, and identifying what they value in life. We are also happy to report that many students and mentors have continued their learning relationships beyond the first semester.
