"My talks with my mentor, Dave VanderWel, were extremely beneficial. He shared his past experiences, failures, successes, and lessons learned and I discovered many things about myself through these conversations. He helped me realize that humility, though it is a good thing, can be a hindrance in the work world when searching for a job. I need to be able to "sell myself" in a way and be confident in who I am and not belittle all the things of which I have experience. Dave helped me realize that the priorities I have now will not always be the priorities I will have five, ten, or twenty years from now. Also, my goals and plans for my life will more likely than not change as well. He gave me assurance in the fact that as long as I am walking in the will of God and seeking His guidance in everything I do, it doesn't necessarily matter what my occupation is, as long as I am who God wants me to be." -- Courtney Dernberger
"The mentoring experience was very valuable to me. I was a little uncertain coming into is and unsure of what to expect. My mentor, Lynn Stubbs, was wonderful. She has encouraged me to pursue my passion and go overseas and has affirmed my decision to major in Psychology and Spanish. She has been a great resource to me and helped me answer my questions about what I could do with a psychology vs. social work major. I am planning now to go to graduate school for social work." -- Diane Hawke
"The CFL mentoring process has been an overall great experience. Through the discussions I had with my mentor Linda, I learned a lot about myself and what it means to be a faithful leader in an often times un-faithful world. These same discussions helped me discover many of the gifts I have and some that I had never really thought about. In talking about daily experiences or what is going in my life, Linda pointed out several gifts that I never would have realized I had. Many of them were small things that all contribute to who I am overall and where my strengths truly are. We also talked about priorities and where my priorities should be as I make my way into the management field." -- Alex Homkes
